It’s crazy how time flies. Looking back, I can’t believe it’s already been six years since I left for Ecuador. What’s crazier is all the adventures since then. Moving to Virginia and back to Texas, learning to two-step, waltz, one-step, it’s hard to fathom that it’s been six years since Ecuador. Yet, somehow, it still seems like yesterday. Walking down the street, little things will take me right back. The smell of conchas baking at the grocery store, the taste of a candy, and bam. I’m right back to the streets of Cuenca walking downtown.
Despite the difficult transition back into American culture all those years ago, I am happy with where I am at now. Texas has been good to me, and God has been better. Last summer, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to Peru with Kingdom Workers as a translator. The opportunity to travel internationally again and use my Spanish to help further God’s kingdom was the breath of fresh air I needed to remind me how truly blessed I am.
With my college graduation coming up in the spring, you would think I’d be nervous. There are a lot of unknowns piling up around that time. What job do I want? What job can I get? What happens next? And to be honest with you, I have no idea. But what I do know is that God has taken care of me for twenty-two years, and He’s not about to stop now.
Yeah, the past six years have flown by, and I have a feeling that the next six years will fly by just as fast. From Ecuador to Virginia and back to Texas, Lord knows where I’ll end up next. Wherever it is, I’m ready and waiting. Here’s to the next adventure!
