Was it the first time I ate guinea pig? The first time I tried it, we went to a roadside restaurant with the guinea pigs displayed proudly outside on wooden sticks. Upon sitting down, my dad walked into the kitchen and explained to the cook that this was his daughter's first time trying guinea pig, so it better be the best on that they had. And although I have heard that the ears are the best, I didn't get to try them. Why? Because my dad explained to me that the head wad for my aunt. Apparently she loves the brain. I also found out that the intestines are as bad as they sound.
"What's the best moment of your exchange so far?" A million different things flashed through my mind. The Amazon. Translating for the Canadian doctors. Making an American meal with my family. How could I possible choose? Was it the first time I ate guinea pig? The first time I tried it, we went to a roadside restaurant with the guinea pigs displayed proudly outside on wooden sticks. Upon sitting down, my dad walked into the kitchen and explained to the cook that this was his daughter's first time trying guinea pig, so it better be the best on that they had. And although I have heard that the ears are the best, I didn't get to try them. Why? Because my dad explained to me that the head wad for my aunt. Apparently she loves the brain. I also found out that the intestines are as bad as they sound. Or maybe, the best moment of my exchange has been telas. The reason I started was to simply try something new. I mean if you saw someone climb a giant ribbon hanging from the ceiling, wouldn't you want to try it? But it has truly become the highlight of my day. Every time I go up to do a trick, I feel as if I'm performing. Climbing up, I feel as if I can do anything. I have learned five falls so far and a lot of other poses. I can do the splits three meters in the air, and I can fall from 4 meters up on purpose without being afraid. When the bruises became badges of pride and the aching muscles a pat on the back, I knew without a doubt that I have found a new passion. Or could it be the other exchange students I have gotten to know? I the first time I met the other exchange students, I was a bit overwhelmed. But now, they are like a whole other family. Getting to know each and every one of them has been so much fun. From shooting each other with water guns to late night talks about red moons, they have become some of y closest friends. From France, Brazil, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, we have become so close in such a different way that our friendships are indescribable. The way our cultures mix and match is a wonder that I can't describe. Or possibly it's my wonderful host family. They have been here for my through ups and downs. From the very first day, I have always felt at home. My family here is as crazy as the one in the States, and I love them for this! They are always there to tease me about my accent, boys, my Americaness. But at the same time, they are there when I just need a hug. I have no idea how they have put up with me for these past six months, but I'm thankful that i got them as my family! So what's the best moment? All of it! Every second of every minute of every day has been an incredible experience, and I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who has helped make this happen. Both in the States and in Ecuador, thank you to everyone who has supported me financially, spiritually, and emotionally. If it weren't for you guys, I wouldn't be the person I am today. Thank you.

Guinea Pig? Maybe with a gallon of Rudy's BBQ sauce. What an amazing adventure you are having.

AuthorI love Jesus, my family and baseball. Without my Savior I know I would defiantly not be the person I am today, and the same can be said about my family. My family is always there for me, and we all love three things for sure, Jesus, baseball, and each other. Categories
